A letter to Jeffery McDaniel

I have been reading the poetry of Jeffery McDaniel for a while now. Most of his poems have given me insight, being able to relate to some and not. Recently I never could relate to a particular stunning piece he wrote several years ago until now. I thought it would be nice writing a response to him.

Just jump off a cliff

Picture a classroom full of kids. A stuffed up carpet floor room filled with snotty faced brats running around trying to talk about how their "kick ass weekends" went. Some of them are sitting on the carpet in a circle, some of them in their own little group laughing their asses off oblivious to everything else. And in the corner of the class is some chubby kid, wearing a hoodie way to big with some obnoxious slogans on the front, because he thinks he's so cool. Picture this little fuck, staring at some innocent girl he's only talked to a handful of times. Picture him dreaming about how they could become best friends and maybe even more than that, but really all he wanted was to get to know her. Picture him standing there, with absolutely no intentions of telling her.

If you ever see some little fuck like this in your life, do the world a huge favour by tell him to grow some balls and tell her he likes her by planting your right foot up his ass. Sure it'll hurt, but it won't be any compared to the kind of regret and pain he'll feel in a couple years when he realizes that if he just said "hello"; If he just said a fucking "hi" instead of standing there picking his nose, he could of become friends with her. That's right, the pain of your foot in his fat ass wont be anything compared to the kind of regret and pain he'll feel in a couple years when he realizes that they might of even gone out. That sensation of being kicked will be so insignificant when he finds out that if he just asked "how are you doing today?" maybe, just maybe that girl might be a little bit happier in this fucked up life.

But honestly, your not going to kick him are you? And realistically he's probably not going to ever tell her how he feels about her. How all he wanted to do during that semester was to become friends with her, but he never knew how. But it's all right. He'll live on and grow older, telling people to not make the same mistake he did. To tell that girl that he likes her. To say hello to that girl, or ask how she's doing today. When really he himself is just waiting for someone to kick him off the cliff.

A Global Paradox

I find it funny how the world works. It is truly a huge place, words enough can't even sum up just how big it is, but as big as it really is; its just as small. On this planet, we have so many wonderful continents, filled with wonderful places, and wonderful towns, with wonderful people, so many diverse and amazing cultures; but that's only speaking of humans of course. I think people need to realize that when people speak of the world, it is not just humans but animals and nature itself; but that's for another entry.

Many people know I come from the great land located up north called Canada. We're known for our cold winters and living in igloos. Just to set the records straight, our igloo's are actually quite comfortable, thank you.

A while ago I was asked the question "If you could have been born in any other country, where would it be?". If you asked me years ago I would have said some place such as Japan or England. Those locations are truly magnificent, but I don't think I would have become the same person I am today if I was. Being raised in a place where immigrants were plenty, I was easily exposed to many different cultures and customs. This was the spark that ignited the hunger I now have to explore the world. Growing up with so many different places of the world all in my reach was really a delight, I only recently started understanding just how fortunate I am to be living here.

Although, for me it's not enough. Last week end I went to a local festival called Taste of Asia. It was really a taste all right. Two crowded streets outside the most Asian mall in my town filled with the smells of all sorts of food such as Takoyaki and Smelly Tofu. As hectic as it was, it really enjoyed myself along with my good friends who accompanied me.

This taste was amazing, but its not enough. I want to finish this bowl of culture and try other ones. In other words, I want to travel the world. Explore the great valleys of Japan, the industrial wonders of England, The romance of France and even more.

I recently started watching Culture Japan, a little
show hosted by a man called Danny Choo who explores Japan and its wonders. It really brings a smile to my face. Check him out if the explorer in you get hungry-

Humble Beginnings

Beginnings are amazing things. They represent the starting of something great, or disastrous that the future promises us. Ideally, they are the catalysts of many incredible things. So here's to the beginning of a new journey. My dream starting today is to become a story teller. In many ways during my childhood and even today I have been inspired or amazed by films and stories of many different lands and people. These stories have helped me meet new people, allow me to amaze other people and on the rare occasion bust out in lyrical transition with some strangers I just recently met; as silly as it sounds, its quite fun. My dream is to do just that. To amaze people in ways never thought of and to take them on adventures to different lands.

In one year from today. I would like to have been accepted to Sheridan College for animation, I would like to have written many amazing stories, and I would like to have drawn breath taking things.

Cheers to this dream.
